Alumni Graduate Fellowship, Fall 2004
Awarded this fellowship for my work in the Educational Technology program at the University of Florida. The Alumni Graduate fellowship carries a four-year, $72,000 award. Alumni Graduate Fellows represent the highest graduate student award available at the University of Florida. Funded at nationally competitive levels, these highly prestigious awards support students in all programs and departments of the University awarding a Ph.D. or MFA.

University of Florida Scholar for Technology in Career Services, Fall 2002
Awarded this fellowship from the Office of the Vice President as part of my work in assisting the Career Resource Center at the University of Florida with developing technological tools to facilitate student involvement in job searching, interviewing, resume work, and consulting.

Worked in the School of Teaching and Learning as an instructor for EME 4406: Integrating Technology into the Secondary Classroom. Taught lecture and lab sections for EME 4406. Assisted students with technical and pedagogical issues for assignments through email and office hours. Updated course website for easier use and developed online tutorials for technologies taught in lab sections.

Career Resource Center

Worked in the Career Resource Center as a graduate assistant and revamped the job search portion of career center web site, developed interactive CD for job searching for undergraduate and graduate students. Assisted in S.M.I.L.E. conference for undergraduate and graduate students. Critiqued resumes for undergraduate and graduate students and helped with the Career Showcase Event.

Hispanic Graduate Student Association Symposium, Fall, 2004

Presented a paper on the integration of technology in mathematics education. Presentation included a description of my work with an elementary gifted mathematics classroom and the collaboration with their teacher, Mrs. Seymour. Helped Mrs. Seymour find ways of successfully integrating technology into her existing curriculum by using concepts of “Mindtools”.

Florida Educational Technology Conference, Spring 2003
Orlando, Florida

Presented in part of a session titled Partnerships between Higher Ed Institutions and School Districts . This partnership was a collaboration between the University of Florida and Alachua County Public Schools. My presentation focused on the collaboration between Betsy Seymour and myself in helping her learn to infuse technology into her existing curriculum. The presentation included activities, lesson plans, student work, experiences, and student surveys.

  • Instructor for online courses in video production in teaching and learning: Video in K-12 Instruction.
  • Provided feedback, support, and knowledge base to inservice teachers from different regions of the United States on topics of video production.
  • Helped inservice teachers develop ideas on how to integrate video into an existing curriculum across different disciplines.
